The campaign for Washington's 5th district seat is heating up.
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who is currently the fourth most powerful Republican in the House, has raised the lion share of the money in the race so far. According to the most recent Federal Election Commission update, she has raised more than $2.7 million and spent $1.2 million. Lisa Brown, who represented Spokane in the state legislature, serving as majority leader, has raised $1.26 million and spent $420,000. Those numbers are most likely much higher as the FEC releases quarterly reports, and the last one went through March.
Republican and former 5th District Representative George Nethercutt Jr. in commenting on the race says its going to likely be one of the closest and most competitive races McMorris Rodgers has had in the seven terms she's served.
