Brown makes coveted campaign list
Spokane, Wash., Feb. 20, The Lisa Brown campaign releases the following news.
Fifth District congressional candidate Lisa Brown has earned a spot on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s highly competitive Red to Blue list. She is one of only 24 Democratic candidates to receive the designation thus far.
The DCCC made the announcement on Tuesday, and it comes on the heels of a poll showing the race to be within four points. The incumbent won by nearly 20 points in 2016.
DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján outlined some of the reasons Brown was chosen:
“Lisa Brown has been a tireless champion for Eastern Washington for her entire career, from her relentless focus on growing the region’s economy, to building the state’s second public medical school - headquartered in Eastern Washington - which has brought world-class health care and thousands of jobs to the region,” Lujan said in a news release. “Lisa believes that now more than ever, we need to bring more people to the table, not shut them out. That’s because she doesn’t care about partisan labels, she cares about results.”
In response to the news, Brown said, “It is gratifying to see our message that Eastern Washington deserves an independent-minded, effective leader - who meets with people in open forums - resonate throughout the district. We are where we are today because over 1,500 people, from Chewelah to Walla Walla, have signed up to volunteer for the campaign.”
The Red to Blue designation means top-tier candidates will get extra support to help them continue to run strong campaigns.
